Irregularities In Road Construction Work Fumes Locals
Bhubaneswar, May 16 (RNI): Alleging irregularities in construction of road, locals allegedly stopped the ongoing construction activities in Tentulidihi gram panchayat of Bhadrak district on Wednesday. The irate residents reportedly stopped the construction of road between Bramhanasahi and Basanti Padia village alleging poor quality of works. They have complained that they had asked the Junior Engineer (JE) to carry out the construction work in his presence. However, the concerned JE did not visit the construction site and sent a delegate instead to oversee the works. Irked over the JE’s action, the locals stopped the construction of the road and demanded a probe into the matter. “We were forced to stop the construction of road as despite complaining about the poor quality of the work, the JE continued the project forcefully. An investigation should be initiated as there are lots of irregularities in the project,” said Upendra Das, a local. “The JE should be present during construction work. However, it did not happen. Besides, the work is of poor quality. We have already apprised the Block Development Officer (BDO) about the matter,” said Niranjan Das, a villager. The Chandbali BDO said that he has directed the JE to ensure proper completion of the project. “Some villagers had come to me with their complaint. I have directed the JE to ensure that the work completes in his presence without any irregularity,” the BDO said.
